At a self-service hotel, guests can carry out most actions themselves – it is enormously time-saving and especially provides guests with an easy and flexible check-in and check-out.
By using technological innovations and automated total systems, it is possible for your guests to handle everything from booking and payment to room access and ordering additional services. In addition to a total system like OCTOPUS for gathering all the information, tasks, and bookings, the most important feature at a self-service hotel is the electronic locks. These locks allow guests to access their rooms using a PIN code that is sent to them via SMS or email. This way, guests can arrive at and leave the hotel without having to wait in line at the reception to receive information or exchange keys.
Another important feature is the electronic Personal Guestbook, where guests can read directly about the hotel, the area, experiences, parking, offers, and more. Guests can also use the guestbook to change personal details such as email, name, and billing address – everything is, of course, updated directly in the OCTOPUS system. Guests can also use the Personal Guestbook to order and pay for extra services (for example, breakfast, lunch box, transportation, or room service). At a self-service hotel, guests enjoy a more flexible experience, allowing them to manage their own needs and expectations in an easy and practical way.
Remember: We are not trying to make the reception staff unemployed, but rather to give them more time to serve and be there for the guests, so that they receive the best experience.
We experience at our own hotels that guests are incredibly happy not to be dependent on a receptionist – who is often in line, especially at check-out in the morning, when you just want to get on with your program.
As an extra service for guests, OCTOPUS can also generate a QR code – which can, for example, be hung at the entrance – where guests can scan and then log in with preset personal information (e.g. email address, full name or mobile number).
This feature is typically used by guests who want to quickly see their room number and PIN code for the door - without having to find their confirmation email or Personal Guestbook.
